Our commitment to connection to community & longevity gives us the vision and the strength for our mandate of capacity building. Our capacity building initiatives are designed to empower and uplift
ourselves as much as the communities we serve with a focus on long-term economic and employment well-being, our strategic plan encompasses various elements:
2SLGBTQ+ people with legal name-change challenges face more frequent complications when updating their personal and financial records, which can in turn lead to discrepancies, delayed adjustments in their tax filings, and a whole lot of back taxes. We can help with all that.
NOTE: The Back-Tax program is by application only. We prioritize 2SLGBTQ+ individuals facing challenges eligible for penalty waivers.
Launching a professional intersectional training program for our team, partners and collaborators will help assure competent services are provided by everyone involved.
NOTE: The Competent Provider program is only offered internally at this moment.
We are in the process of seeking funding for a new financial literacy training geared at increasing the accessibility of skills that are integral to the stability of our homes and communities. The ultimate goal is to learn to effectively manage income and expenses in order to achieve your financial goals and maintain financial stability.
NOTE: The Community Financial Literacy Program is by application only and will prioritize QTBIPOC individuals.
In fall 2023, we offered our first sponsored tax preparer trainings for 2SLGBTQ+ community members in order to build taxation skills and a tax team. Sponsored by Mitchell Wronsky CPA Inc in 2023, we'll be repeating this sponsorship in the fall of 2024 for file more tax return filing in spring 2025 and seeking new sponsors!
NOTE: The Tax preparer sponsorship program is by application only. We prioritize members of under-served 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
By spring 2025, we will have a Free Community Volunteer Tax Clinic in Montreal for our diverse communities providing more access to taxation services as we'll be able to refer eligible tax payers to this program, thereby avoiding tax preparation fees altogether!
In order to maintain the high quality of our work, we are respecting our limit for clients as we build capacity. We understand the need for these services in our communities and thank you for your patience as we get started.
Foster capacity building in underserved 2SLGBTQIA+ communities by helping to fund advocacy for equitable economic & employment experiences, provide quality professional support, and facilitate valuable skill exchanges.
Thank you!
